What’s wrong with this egg?

My duck eggs are on day 18 in the incubator and I noticed when candling last night that this one was getting dark spots. What are they? Is it a bacteria infection? The embryo is definitely still alive but I’m worried whatever it is will spread to the other eggs.

I just got this incubator it’s a Hova bator 2370, the temperature stays at 99.5 plus I have another digital thermometer that I put in there and it’s always around 99.5 too. Why does it not look like a day 18 egg? I haven’t used an incubator in about 13 years and I have never hatched ducks before.

I candled my eggs again this evening and 7 out of 8 have this black stuff in them. In some eggs it’s stuck to the sides and in others it is just free floating in there. All of the embryos are very much alive right now with lots of movement. I’m not sure what to think right now .

well, if theyre moving i would just chalk it up to everything is going as planned lol .. eggs are generally pretty gooey and nasty, theyll be alright .. long as theyre moving lol

I hope so! I’m probably just being paranoid lol. I have hatched chickens before and I don’t think I ever saw this. It just made me nervous with only 10 days left and it suddenly appeared.

100% hatch rate! I’m not sure what was in them but it wasn’t harmful.
