  1. Hi!
One of my brown EE hens 'broke camp' from the mutt pen and made a nest out at the edge of the woods under a tarp next to the woodpile.

I moved her and her 16 eggs to a rabbit hutch last week for their safety.
I had candled the eggs earlier and *predicted* they'd hatch this week (comparing the development to eggs I'd set.
    Dang, I'm good [IMG]
They are right on time (by my candling). Got 4 black chicks so far that are most likely EE x Araucana (since this was an 'unplanned mating', the chicks may have multiple fathers.
    Pics coming soon!

Oh my gosh! What a sneaky little girl! Can't wait for those pics!!

  4. Wouldn't you know it, all sixteen eggs have hatched!
    All smut black chicks!
I guess I'll be building her and the chicks a run today. I really hate to let her raise the chicks tho, she's so flighty and that will make for more flighty birds.

If she is flighty, you raise them. I can't believe ALL 16 hatched, that's great.

Quote:Yes, and notice in that picture. There are some sitting pointed side up, the ones towards the bottom don't look like they could possibly be turned easily by mama, no hygrometer and yet, they ALL hatched. It's just amazing - love it!
