Very happy that my investment in some Carniolan x Italian cross stock was worth it. Got two of these gals from California a few weeks back and just took 1 pic of a frame from the one queens broodnest. Definetly looking good...now if she makes it through winter I will use her to make some more queens.

We are also in PA and opened our hives for a peek today. This is a swarm we caught on April 29th from one of our own Russian hives. For some reason the queen looks like she skipped the cells over the horizontal wires on this side of the frame ~ she filled the ones on the other side.

They are also making some very dark honey ~ I'm not sure of the source ~ we have a lot of poplar trees, but that nectar flow was over in May.
