I went out to do my feeding like I always do and noticed 2 different things this am... 1st thing was when I went to feed the 2 month old chicks, I had 7 chicks in that chicken tractor where I had put momma hen & her babies, momma hen was moved back into her regular pen yesterday as she didn't want to mother anymore...1 baby chick is just gone, out of the pen and missing and no feathers in site,
2nd thing was when I went to feed the adult chickens I found my favorite hen laying dead
there's no missing feathers, no sign of injury, and she wasn't sick
I only wish I knew what happened.
I was trying to explain this to hubby and he had a detached sound in his words while more or less making it my fault somehow and telling me that I will loose birds. I feel horrible enough without all that....

I'm sorry. I wish I could tell you what happened.... I lost some chicks once when a raccoon reached through the wire and pulled chicks out. They are very dextrous.
I have no idea about your hen. That is very strange....
I'm so sorry you lost your hen. Maybe the baby is still around someplace? I'd be out there like a fiend looking for it~I'm sure you have already done that.
Your hubby is probably very upset and not sure how to show it. (?) But I think he should have been more supportive.
