Sooo, these are the last two of the 13 I set out to hatch this month. I candled them after my third chick hatched yesterday, and thought they looked good. I candled them again tonight after not seeing even a pip. I was initially coming here to ask what you thought as I’m still not confident what I’m seeing. After looking at the pictures myself about 10x I noticed three see through spots, and remember reading something about low hatchability and this type of shell. Can someone talk me through this and a couple other possible factors of why only three hatched? The first two pictures are one egg, the other three are the second egg. Thanks ☺️ I hope everyone has a great New Year 🎉

I have hatches numerous porous eggs...no problem. If you do not have multiple calibrated thermometers in your incubator I suggest you start there. Too hot of a spot/s happen and will kill.

I didn’t realize that as I was collecting eggs to incubate that you needed to turn the eggs in the carton. As I was collecting, my hens stopped laying but my pullet started, so I collected 13 eggs over 8 days. Could that have been why 8 eggs stopped really early on? I hadn’t turned any of the eggs once they made it to the carton.

What you are seeing is a 'dead egg'. Either, bacteria entered the shell or they died for other reasons....but they are dead and have been for several days.
THANK YOU. If you don’t mind, I didn’t get an answer to this question I posed lasted night after my last chick hatched. Her shell had all these weird black spots on the inside, looked like mold spots or tiny mites that didn’t move. I’ve never seen it before. Does this look like something odd to you? Thank you again.

Can you tell me what I’m seeing in the two eggs?
Deadness. Cause by any number of things. Getting too hot is number one on the checklist... especially if you don't have multiple calibrated thermometers in your bator.
