I know that it is accurate and I was wondering if I can use it in the bator to see if the onther one I have is accurate (the one that came with the bator)?

Generally, if you have one thermometer that you know is accurate then yes, you can use it to check and calibrate another one. But I don't know what a candy thermometer is, so I hope I'm not giving you bad info...

It's a thermometer that you use when making candy/baking.

I actually took out one of the stoppers in my LG bator and put the thermometer in it and taped it in place.

I have a digital thermometer in the bator along with the one that came with the bator. So what I am trying to do is see if all of them are at least within 2 degrees of each other. Kinda experimenting, which I probably shouldn't be doing.

Ah, for making candy. That now seems VERY obvious. Silly me. LOL!
And there's nothing wrong with experimenting. It's the best way to learn. I do it all the time.

When I got the thermometer (about a year ago) I asked where they were because they weren't with all the baking stuff and the lady I asked looked at me like I was crazy. She asked what it was for and I told told her baking and making candy and she asked why would I need a thermometer to do either of those things.

I finally found them with no help from her. I don't use it for candy though, I use it when I am making bread to make sure my water or milk is warm enough.

I have the same incubator going for three days now. The thermometer I got with the bator is the exact same one that came with the egg turner. Now get this.....they are both in the bator and show two different temps. And worse than that they change off. One will say 99.5 and the other will be either lower or higher. Next time I look it is the other one! But the egg turner is in there slowly moving so maybe sometimes that makes the difference.

Anyway....DH leaves sunday and monday I am going to town and getting another one and paying a little extra for it....I want one to put in the hole and I think digital.

How often are you putting water in yours?

I am actually having a hard time with the water part mainly b/c I can't tell when it needs water unless I take the turner out and then tilt the bottom of the bator just a smidgen. I am probably going to put water in it later this evening.

My main problem is the temp flux. It is under 70 degrees in our house (we had rain yesterday and it always brings down the temp in the house) and the humidity is about 70% in the house. But I don't know if that is accurate, the thermometer that I am using is usually for outside.

The temp in the bator on the digital thermometer is 99 degrees and the humidity is 34% and the thermometer that came with the bator says 99.5, but it won't stay there.

I feel like I am okay for now. One thermometer says 99.5 and the other says 98.5, the next time I look it is the opposite.

I am going to buy a wet thermometer that show humidity when I go to town w/o my DH. That will make three.

I have actually be pleased that it seems to hold the same temp. However, I can't turn the entire thing over to find out why the water is leaking out so I put a plastic base under it in hope that will catch the water....how far along is your incubating?

I just seen that mine had leaked out a little water and that is just because of what I was using to fill the little troughs, some of the water got into the actual base and seeped out the little vent hole (like the ones on top). Maybe this is what is happened to yours.
