What about an egg swap????

I know I'm fairly new to the board and haven't earn anyone's trust yet but I would be interested in trading a few eggs with someone.I have pure bred chickens but nothing separated.I have 10 6 week old chicks that I hatched from out of my pen that have turned out to be mostly pure bred chicks.I have 2 barred rock pullets,5 rhode island red/production red pullets and one roo.The other two look like they will be black sexlinks as I have the right combination to get them in that pen.How lucky could I get right?Anyway I'm in the sunny south and I'm getting 3 to 4 dozen eggs a day that I sell for fresh eating and it's har to keep up with the orders.I have a friend at church that has eggs for sale and he always buys any extras to resale that I may have.I hope one day to fix some more pens that can separate and get pure bred eggs to hatch and sell.I just haven't decided what breed I want to do this with.So many choices.So count me in if anyone is interested.

i have done and hosted garden swaps that way and how it is supost to work is there is a set time and day the swap it to be filled by. first person says there name and what they have, next one their name and what they have. usually ya make it so before they can post again 3 people are to chime in inbetween and post they are next then u can jump in again. ya limit how many times everyone is allowed in or not, but if not sometmes people get gready,lol. at a certain time of the cut off the last person on the list sends to the first everyone else sends to the person below them and noone should be left out or have to pick any partners ya go by u send to the person who posts under u and everyone sees the list and knows who is to send to who. it helps to have a hostess to make sure everything gets organized and done.

the other way we have done them is the hostess puts names in the hat of everyone that posts they want in. they have dh draw names or i've always had my kid's do it. write a # for how many people want in and their names as they joined it. then when the dh or kid's draw the names who they pull out of the hat goes to partner # 1, next one goes to partner #2 and so on. ur partner send so many eggs in this case of what they have or want to send but they can feel free to send more if they want. since they are drawn at randome it seperates the names and ur surprised what ya get.

i think a better idea would be a reverse of the first one i said. first person says for example i'll say mine.
silkiechick can't take standards, no mutts please. then someone who has bantams and pures could post their name and what they can't have or don't want next and so on. the person under me is who would send to me and what we get is a surprise. that way everyone sends to the person above them and u now what not to send. if u can't send but smething they don't want then wait to chime in till someone posts u can fill their request. due a cut off date and a ship date. if ya don't send ya can't do any other swaps and have a tread for recieved so the hostess knows who has or hasn't keep up their end of the swapping. do one swap a mth same way. and if we can all agree on something and the powers that be say a ok count me in too,lol.

Ks, I don't feel that y'all took over my idea. Y'all have great ideas and more experience swapping than I do. I am just saying I have to see it first before I can organize it b/c it sounds really difficult. I think it sounds like great fun though and I really hope we can swap. I do like the idea of posting what we can't have so that the eggs we get are still a surprise. I look forward to hatching out little surprise babies and trying to figure out what they are! It will be like a really cool Easter basket

Hey, I'll help in any way I can. The more help the better, let me know what I can do.
If you decide to do that person below me thing I'll donate the first eggs.
I think we should try this Karri's way first and go from there. Afterall it was her idea. We'll call it Karri's Swap Meet.

How many catigories do we need to have?
Anything
Pure Breed
Large Breed
Bantoms
Anything else? Remember the more catagories the more confusion, and the more chance of mistakes. We need to make it specific enough so everyone gets what they want, but not so specific it creates a problem. Hey all chickens are cute, here's a chance to expand your horizon

Will the dates I mentioned earlier work. Close by the 14th, Send say by the 5th. That gives 10 days to get everything done so you could be entered in the next month if you want.

What else to we need to figure out?
This is gonna be fun.
Silkie, I'm not sure I understand how yours works? Its probably me, a mind is a terrible thing to waste. The more ideas the better.

I didn't mean that y'all were "taking over!" Please don't think that's what I meant. I just have to see things before I can fully "get" them. I am just saying that the first swap should either be organized by one you guys or all of us. I don't want to mess it all up.

I also like Silkie's idea, it seems less complicated. Whatever you all want though. WE can all put in our two cents.
