What about an egg swap????

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but I know there was some swap issues in the past on the BYC boards. Did anyone run this past Nifty first before it being posted here?

I think swapping would go under the "trade" section of this area. The biggest thing is to only respond if you are truely willing to trade. There is alway the possiblility that you will get skunked and send eggs and get none in return. Make sure that anyone that you agree to swap or trade with is someone you feel comfortable with. Talk to them for a while and see how it feels. Also see if they have a site that they sell eggs from to check and see what they have. I have been burned but that will not stop me from trying it again with someone else. I also think that it is better to post on this thread who you will be trading with so that others can see too. It helps to stop one person from privately contacting everyone promising to trade and then ending up with a BUNCH of eggs and not sending out anything. Accountability and trust are the keys to a sucessful trade. Jenn

You are right about only signing up if you are going to ship eggs out. Here is what I was thinking:
-Sign up if you want to swap
-We all agree on a cut off day
-we agree on a ship day (barring hens refusing to lay and such

)
-we all pay the outgoing cost to ship
-we have someone (other than me since I set it up) put everyone's name in a hat and match up swaps like that.

The reason I was thinking of doing it that way was b/c then we would all have to guess what kind of chicks we got and I think that's a blast!!!! If anyone has any ideas that would make this easier/safer/etc let me know. If swapping is illegal please let me know, I don't want to break any taboos

And if anyone has any idaes on a sign up cut-off date, let me know. I think this will be a fun thing to do, I hope it works

P.s. Yes, the trade list would be posted on thread. Nothing that has to do with this particular swap would be sent through email or private message.

Thanks, Miss Prissy.

Swaps and such posted here are not in any way endorsed by BYC. We will not mediate if something goes bad. Should you choose to participate in a swap, it is best to know who you are swappping with and not to swap more than you can afford to lose.

One thing to keep in mind based on past swaps....the person running the last one gone south was a minor and not legally responsible for her non follow through.

Just know who you are dealing with as in all Buy Sell Trade Transactions.... and Buyer (or Swapper) Beware.

The courteous thing to do would be to ask the owner of the site for permission to post about a swap you are responsible for.
