What about an OP being able to close is/her own thread

Okay, that makes sense, but my thoughts had to do more with subjects which really seemed to have run their course, rather than issues of high controversy. And, of course, those issues are often simply dropped anyway, but sometimes I worry that I started a conversation and I'm not following it anymore, but someone might be expecting me to answer since I started it....way back when. It would let me let myself

And, to bolster my side of the argument, there would never be any reason for some person other than the OP to start a thread which continues the conversation, but which does not lead back to the OP.

Maybe we could have a note that says "closed without prejudice"....

I still like the idea, but that doesn't mean it's a good one.
