What about your birds gives you the best feeling or makes you proud?

Watching a momma with her babies...

and when my rosecomb roo flies up on my roof to crow. The cars go by and everyone stares.... and I just love him for being so bold.

My favorite thing?!....

The joy of watching all of my day old chicks grow and flourish and develop their own personalities, how they run to greet me...even if they just saw me 10 minutes ago:lol:, and definately the first crow; I don't have children and my pride just swelled when we heard that first crow of the flock!

I love seeing all of them around the farm w/ their butts in the air. It is so peaceful and truely relaxing. Contentment on the farm....

I love that they're happy to see me, even when I don't have food.
I love it that they 'talk' back to me when I say their names.
I love that when I sit in the yard they all come to hang out with me, or hubby, or the kids.
I love that they are so pretty & so healthy (drives me nuts when they molt).
I love the sound the broody makes when she tells babies she found a treat, and the sound a rooster makes to send the same message to his hens.

And one very very bad day, I loved it that they climbed in my lap to comfort me while I had a long cry. And those that couldn't get to my lap sat on my feet. And they wouldn't budge even when the cat wanted to climb on my lap to comfort me. So I sat out there draped in cats & chickens and remembered to count my blessings.

I have to add, that I LOVE that my 2yr old grandson, loves the chickens! He comes every morning and says--"outside, chickens, Granny. I go see Barney and the grillllllls" (not a misspelling LOL)!

There are so many proud papa moments. The first is a basic one, the very first time Wexler our champion COUS* roo put the toilet seat down after using the bathroom. Kudos all the way around on that one, I can no longer blame it on him when it is still up. Second runner up is Hildy who won the quad parish spelling bee with the correct spelling of fiduciary, she's a bit older and can't stay away from LaLaw reruns, something about Harry Hamlin, I don't see it. Third is when we took the twins on a trip to Times Square, both Ginger and Lili refused to buy the knock off Gucci purses - they are not the "real" thing but impress lots of people anyway - in front of the Starbucks, you know the big one next to the Starbucks. Last is Buster, who after listening to a Dish telemarketer last Christmas Eve for 15 minutes, Fed-Exed a fruitcake to her. Who you gonna pick, they are all so special.

Everyones comments have been great. I never even thought of posting pictures. Good to see people can still get enjoyment out of the simple things in life.

I guess I am the proudest when people bring their kids with them, who have never been close to a chicken, and one of my chickens go over and let them pet them or pick them up. The smile on those kids. they can't believe they can hold a chicken and that a chicken can be a pet.

I love it when my chickies flap up onto my kids shoulders. I think its so cute! The kids are only 3 and 4 and they try sooo hard to hold still so the chicks don't leave!
