What age are they safe in the run alone?

I have been thinking a lot about the run and I think I want to cover it all with 2x4 welded wire.  Opinions? 

Yes indeed cover with something. I was just outside to see my 9 week old chicks and a big frigging reddish brown hawk was sitting ON the ground outside the fence looking into the run my chicks were in the coop under a bench. When the big hawk took off I thought it was going to hit me, it went right over me.

Sounds like once you add the welded wire to the top of the run you should be good to go.

You might want to add something in your run for your chicks to hide under when something startles them. It makes them feel safer. Funny how a wildlife cam seems perfectly reasonable now, doesn't it? lol
