I've read a lot of different ages. I've got a variety of ages in dog crates with the lamps. 3 of them are pretty big. I think they may be almost 8 weeks old. I just don't want to put them out and they are too cold and die.

Where do you live that it would be cold outdoors at this time of year? We are in Virginia and put our keets outside at almost 6 weeks. They've been thriving. We coop them at night, and still have them penned in the run until they're 12 weeks and can free range.

I live in PA and it's really not cold during the nights. That's just me being worried Guinea mom. LOL. I coop my 4 adults now at night and day time they go out into open pen. Actually 2 are free ranged during day and they stay nearby the penned ones. I guess I would be ok to put my older keets out now. I think they are ready. They are trying to fly in the dog crate. I totally understand your worry. My keets are 10 weeks and cooped at night and by day still in their fenced run. I'm a nervous nelly for the day I let them start to free range. I know theyre getting ready. :)

I'm in the same boat! My keets are just over 9 weeks and I am kind of dreading letting them free range. I think my fear is they are going to leave me and not come back, haha! They haven't exactly been the friendliest bunch to begin with, but they sure will be your best friend for a worm or whatnot!

I guess we shall see.

My older keets, that have most of their feathers now, will be going out in pen this weekend. I will keep them in there for few weeks before attempting free ranging. As soon as I open the cage door, I have at least 3 keets fly up on my hand looking for hand outs. I've been giving them meal worms and they absolutely love it.
