what age do you put the young hens in with the older ones

I am very sorry that your chicks are sick. I have had a couple health scares in my coop this year. Luckily all came out well in the end. I hope they all regain their health!

well now everybody is healed but sum have a litlte cough and a face problem.

well I got new chickens and their in the coop but they don't come outside like with the flock so sometimes I got tom make them

it took me to put treats on step they would put head out take some then run back in, each time I put it a step down then on the ground, I guess it took about a week for them to come out with rest, now then roost with them and beat them out of coop. hope this helps it worked for me

Well only one of them come eat with the flock like a good girl.

just have to put food out close to her and move it every day close to outside. then right on the ground outside, then move it out more each day, I had 2 hens that were very small so I kept them together till they grow, that is why they did not mix well with the rest. that was in sept I put them in coop, now feb and you could not tell how small they had been. I am very pleased how they grow, when we go out and open coop after a few days of bad weather, them 2 are the first out the door. lol

I put mine in the coop early on BUT have them seperated by wire or put the wire cage in the coop with the older hens and rooster. They can slowly get used to each other by seeing , smelling and talking but have the safety of the wire cage. When I do intergrate them, I make sure the pullets have a "safe" space they can go to when they get picked on. It is usually a baby gate leaned up against the corner in a way that a pullet or two can fit in and feel safe from the older ones.
