What age do your chickens start laying..?

What age do your chickens lay..? i have welsummer/rhode island reds and they are 17 weeks old..?
some1 please help me...!

Im sorry I can't be more help but I believe anywhere from 20 to 26 weeks... but I could be off because it depends on each individual chicken.
 
It does depend on the individual hen and on the breed. I don't know about the Welsummers. 20 to 22 weeks is probably average for RIR but it could be several weeks longer. Some start as early as 16 weeks.
 
We just got our first eggs today, from our two BR's who are just 20 weeks old. I'm so proud of our girls! Yours will be getting busy real soon - but it's so hard to wait!

i was wondering if anyone here keeps a silkie pullet in the house....the reason i am asking is because she still has not laid an egg she is about 20 weeks old and in the afternoon i put a diaper on her and let her roam free in the house...which i must say was a great buy....she has a home and a nest box.....i can not wait...i have 3 show quality roos outside waiting to mate thats why she is in the house with me......thanks ronnie
