Got a bunch of "pullets" from the farm store and split them with a friend. They are 4 months old now. He says one of his is trying to get on top of the others all the time. No crowing yet. Could this be a roo? When will they start to crow? Thank you!

They all mature differently.

I have silkie chicks in a hutch and heard a crow this AM. Of course, when I went over there and asked which one it was they all peeped like babies.
They are 11 weeks old.

I had one that began at 5 weeks. It was more of a "Cocka-Dooo!" at first, before he figured out the last two syllables.

ours crowed just a few weeks ago...at the age of 6 months old. guess he just relized he was a he.

I had a silkie crow at 10 weeks, now just waiting for the others to do something so I know if they are girls or boys?

My SLW crowed for the first time at 14 weeks. He's 15 weeks now and has only tried it twice so far.
