What Age is Right for Freezer Camp?

I'm sure this question's been asked a million times, but at what age should I start making my yardbirds pay their rent? They're about 18 weeks old now.

The breeds in question are partridge rock and blue laced red wyandotte.

My vote would be that you're at a great age to butcher some and see how they turn out. What if you did a test run with a few birds for size/flavor? What have you been feeding them on? Are they free range or tractor? Straight run? Any idea of weights?

I think a test run sounds like a good idea. I have a few extra cockerels I've been feeding them Purina Flock Raiser (I've got ducks too). They also have free access to grass, bugs, etc.
