What age rooster should I get?

I have 8 mature ladies that I want a rooster for, protection and possible chicks in the future. I found someone that is selling roosters, but they want to know if I want a rooster that is either 10 weeks or 1 year.
Is a young rooster or a mature rooster better to introduce in?

If you get a cockerel who is still going through hormonal changes, there can really be no telling how he's going to turn out.

If I were you I would definitely get the 1 year old one! I agree with @Isadora said up there.

Some say to get a young one, because the older hens will teach him to be a good rooster. However, if this person has a good 1 year old, take him!
