Wondering what age i should feed my chickens adult layer feed? I have heard around 16 - 18 weeks. Is this true? I do want to feed it to them early since I have heard that they could have kidney issues.

Most layer feed bags will instruct something like 16+ weeks, 18+ weeks. I personally wait until the majority of the chicks are laying to switch them over, and have oyster shell on the side to provide calcium as needed.

If you're set on feeding layer feed then wait until they're all laying. I personally feed all flock with oyster shell on the side. It helps when a chicken isnt laying due to molting or the season or if we have younger birds who aremt laying yet.
