Thanks

Hi there!

First, you need to learn the SOP of silkies or what yours are considered, such as pet quality, show quality, exhibition quality, etc. That way you know how to advertise them. Are yours bearded and vaulted for instance, as that's a selling point.

What I get for mine here, could be different than you could ask where you are. I sell them at two days old or beyond for $10 each or 6 for $50. I keep them one day here past hatching minimally, to ensure they are all fine, walking properly, eating, and drinking. I count their toes to be sure there are five.

This year, I have them sold before they hatch, and I hatch about 2 dozen+ per week. Some buy two, some buy six, some buy the whole batch.

For older pullets and cockerels, I add about $15 per month. So a two-month old pullet is $25. I give discounts if they're buying chicks or taking a cockerel. Cockerels usually are free if they're buying chicks, or $10 - $20 depending on the color if I'm selling outright because they are now about 4-5 months old.

Chocolate, cuckoo, paints and buffs seem to me to be ones that are slightly rarer around here, so next year I plan to raise the price at least on those, maybe all of them as this price was the same I had last year.

I wish you the best! Good luck!

Thank you so much that's so useful

can you also possibly tell me if I have two purebreds, but they are different colours e.x splash and black or partridge and black
and I breed them, will I still be able to market them as purebreds

and what would the dif between exhibition or show quality??🙂

Thanks so much always a curious chick
