Can you get a shot showing the comb? I'm thinking pullet, but I'm afraid to say without seeing the head. It sure is cute. Looks like a barred Old English Game bantam to me. The "mom" could have been sitting on any chicken's eggs. Doesn't have to be her own.

Could the place really be selling chicks from a diff hen? They had the babies with the "mom" and said she was the mom + wanted to sell them all together but I convinced them to sell me only one. I'm sure if someone had bought them all the would have gone back to complain if the babies grew up different? Lol

The mom was the same color though only she had a lil puff feather ball on her head like a lil hat
