What am I doing wrong?

That's weird...sorry they aren't laying.

Have you raised them since they were chicks? or did you buy them as grown birds? if you raised them from chicks, what did you feed them as they grew?

I got these from a breeder at 10 and 8 weeks. I have had the worst luck with being lied to this time so I even deducted a couple weeks just to make sure I wasn't being too impatient. I will try to find a link where I posted my pics before. The consensus was though that all but my pretty rooster was female. It very well might be the dogs. 2 are going to the farm today though. One other will be going to the farm in a couple week. And one more who has been severely aggressive to the other dogs, chickens and now to us is due to meet his maker via the vet as soon as I can get sedatives from the vet so we can even touch him( gotta love those strays that you just cannot save).

I have been feeding them the feed from TSC. Grower feed at first and then layer since forever. I added scratch mostly for the Rooster cause he is the biggest pig and would eat himself to death if allowed to while keeping the girlies too skinny. The entire time they have had access to grass, clover, fruit. I even grew them their own greens in the garden. They also get the oyster shell stuff and grit free choice. They don't get yogurt often now but when they were smaller I gave it pretty regular.

I guess I'll just hang tight. Maybe before Easter I'll get me a blue egg. I swear its like having relatives move in. Dang freeloading chickens.

Well, they sure are girls, and they sure are pretty, and those little ingrates should thank you for such a nice run that looks really secure and seems to have a pleasant spot!

It could be the dogs I suppose, and good riddence to the nasty one, but really, my hens seem to get real accustomed to whatever is around them once they realize they're safe. Mine even seem to taunt whatever danger threatens but can't reach, then march in to lay an egg!

I think your EEs are just slow to mature. It sure sounds like you give them a great diet. (though I'm not a fan of the Dumor brand TSC carries, still it's a reputable feed that many do like!)

I'd say keep doing what your doing. My EEs were slow to lay, but I get some pinkish tan eggs and one that lays a very pale bluish white egg, and another pullet started laying a small pinkish egg last week, first one (hatched first week of April), but hasn't layed one since! So keep your chin up!

//edit// keep in mind, the late bloomers also seem to lay longer once they do start if that's any help.

It is my understanding that the urge to lay is so strong in young pullets, that when they are ready to lay, they will, no matter the environment, temperature, or number of hours in a day. I agree with Portage Girl, that your hens are just a little late in maturing. Maybe watching hens lay is like watching water boil . . . .

Try some high protien feed, when my chickens slow down I mix high protien feed with the layer pellet. After about a week egg production is back to normal.
