What am I doing wrong?

This is completely incorrect. The crop does not grind anything. The crop is a like a pocket to hold food. The gizzard is what grinds up food.

This is NOT completely incorrect, I apologize for saying "crop" instead of gizzard-my knowledge of chicken anatomy is limited, I am new to this, and I come here to learn, like most others. There is no need to be rude and dismissive. My intention was to offer what might be valuable information to the OP, and you could have POLITELY corrected the inaccuracy in terminology without making a rude, all encompassing, negative statement about what I was saying. I will edit my previous entry so as not to misinform anyone.

IF you are interested in the actual study, here is where I read about it.

I, personally, don't think that MissPrissy was rude or made a negative statement toward you at all. Please, I don't' like to see this in threads so let's please keep this civil. I take in all information and advice from all of the BYCer's that have been here and have seen and done the things that I am looking to do or have dealt with a situation that I am dealing with.

But, I never will knock someone because they don't haveenough knowledge, so I took what you said into consideration. But I still don't think that MissPrissy was rude to you at all. If you sit back and listen to what she has to say, there is alot of knowledge there for all sorts of animals.

Thanks to all who have posted and given advice. All advice will be considered.

I appreciate that MissPrissy is very knowledgable-I just felt her comment was blunt and tactless. There are ways to correct someone without making it seem that you feel they are an idiot.

For instance...."I haven't heard of that, but if it is true, I think you mean "the GIZZARD grinds it, not the crop. The crop is merely a pocket." See the difference?

I am not trying to start anything here, by any means. I hate online bickering. It is just that several times she has made what TO ME felt like rather snide comments in regards to one of my posts, and I have grown weary of it. I have also noticed she has done this to other peoples' posts as well- perhaps it is just me. I think MissPrissy is obviously one of the most knowledgable people on the forum, and I DO appreciate learning from her, I just wish she would make more effort to consider how her words may come across to someone. It kinda feels like high school, you know that teacher who would interuppt what you were saying with "WRONG!" and point to the next person...? I am sure she is well meaning, but even well meaning people can un-intentionally hurt others. (Of course, her really, really good fried chicken recipe does make it up to ME a little bit anyway...

I honestly think a lot of people take MP wrong in the way that she points things out. I don't think she does it to hurt anyone though. I myself am blunt and straight forward, I just bring it out differently.

If we could hear everyones voice and put it with the post I believe it would make a difference in the way we read things. It's O.K. though, no one has done anything wrong. And please know that I understand where you are coming from.

Miss Prissy, How much apple cider vinegar? And how often? Thanks!

Good luck, Acres of Blessings, I hope the problem gets fixed. It's frustrating to lose a bird, even if you were planning to eat it. I just lost a little chick who was destined for the dinner table due to being a cockerel. He was supposed to be my dinner. Not whatever ate him's dinner.

I think the problem was the hay that I used for bedding. DUH! on my part, but that was all I had. The chick, whichever of the 67 it is, seems to be fine. No more red in poop so it must have gotton ahold of something that irritated its intestines.

I am gonna open another thread with pics of the chicks. Unbelievable weights for 16 day olds. (to me anyways)
