I was sold this asa pullet. I think it is not. what do you think

That's a cockerel. As to breed, I don't know. Maybe barred rock or Maran.

Color, body and comb-wise, it looks like my Barred Rocks- the legs look white, though, and my birds have very yellow legs. The tail is untidy, so I can't decide what it looks like there.

I think I'm voting pullet, and if you give her a couple of weeks to adjust after getting her, you may get an egg to prove it?

Anyone else think Barred Rock pullet?

I'd say it's definitely a rooster. You can see pointed hackle/saddle/and even sickle feathers, and I don't think BR because the legs are white instead of yellow. But what he could be, I've no idea.

To the original poster, how old is this bird supposed to be?

I'm just thinking the black on the feathers is heavier than the white, and that's not supposed to be for the Black Sex Link roo, I don't think.

I guess the one on the left of the first pics looks similar- I think I'm just BR-minded and don't know the Black Sex Links that well.

Ouch.. was this a very recent buy- this week/last week? He is showing the pointy feathers in saddle by tail and some starting to show on neck.
