It's a hen, do you think? I was positive it was a Comet hen, too, until the pointy, gold hackle feathers showed up last week. It's also very aggressive and will charge and bite me if I get near its two buff Orpington hens.

I wish I could a have breeding pair of every kind of chicken. I love them soooo much.

It's a hen, no worries. If you look closely at those feathers, you'll see they just have the illusion of point because of their coloration. The actual feathers will be round. Some hatcheries will product aggressive hybrids (fortunately all my Gold Comets are sweet and docile... though slightly dumb). She'll tame down a bit when she starts laying, but she'll probably always be dominant hen.

That's good news! I wonder if she's taken on a more protective role because we have harvested all the cockerels in her flock. I have an older flock of three hens and a rooster, but roo hasn't really accepted the four new pullets, yet.

Yep, looks like an RSL pullet! Hopefully she will calm down as she gets older. Better prepare the skillet for omelets!
