What am I? This fella flew into my friends yard and we bred him with a BS

Is he part BS or since there is still barring IB and there is green in his shoulders. My guess is he is 4 or 5, any other opinions? Can anyone help?

Okay new2,,,I take it back,,,but here at Pea Palace my IB pen is the least exciting to look at and hatch from,,,(although myIB pied male is breeding a lot of hens,evidenced by what I've hatched) and his chicks are interesting,,,,and I plan to keep them only.

If you've gotten offspring from the breeding with a bs hen, you'll know within 4-6 chicks, as odds are you'll get 50% bs chicks. if all are brown, you've got a wild type IB. I have a hen that is split white that I bred to a bs male this year, chicks 3 and 4 were bs, and this suprised me, as she is offspring from parents I'd had for almost 20 years. Its amazing how the gene can carry without one knowing.

Yes, that is a beautiful Indian Blue, how neat to have one fly into your yard. Have the babies hatched yet? You'll know if he is split to BS when the babies hatch. I had my BS male breed to my "not-so-run-of-the-mill" Indian Blue hen and she hatched out both BS and IB babies...so that means my Indian Blue was split to Black-shouldered. If he is split to BS, you should have some BS babies and some IB babies about a 50:50 ratio. As for his age, he is at least 4 or 5 due to his nice big full train.

She has hatched her babies 1/2 IB , 1/2 BS! So yeah he is split to black and I paired him up with a good female!!! Thanks for your help. I will send pics of babies
