I am hoping for a little assistance on identifying these darlings. My kids keep asking what they are and don't like it when I say "chickens." I am content to wait until they are a bit older but you know kids. I got them as straight run at TSC so I know they come from Mt. Healthy. They are about 2 weeks old.

    Chick 1 (hoping Buff Orpington)

    Chick 2

Chick 3 (I am thinking either Rhode Island or New Hampshire Red)

Thanks for any help you can give us.

    1. First chick looks a little dark in the photo to be a BO, IMO (hope I'm wrong!).

    2. Second chick looks like a leghorn to me.

    3. Third chick could be a NHR or production red.

I'm not the best ID'er; someone with more experience will give you better info.

I am probably totally wrong, but the first one looks just like the red broilers I have in my brooder right now. The second one looks like a male red sex-link, and the third looks like an RIR.

Looks like the first and last are RSLs or production reds. The second one is likely a RSL male.

#4 Looks like an adorable little roo-in-the-making. Oh, and the chick is cute, too!

Thanks, I'm a little partial to roo #4 myself. Kinda of getting the idea that I will wait until they are a bit bigger to try to identify the breeds. Too many breeds look too similar at this age. I'll post again in a few weeks and maybe they will look more defined. Thanks for all the help.

Chicks are just about 6 weeks old and I thought I'd give this another try. Any thoughts?

    General sample of the chicks.

Bigger than the rest but looks the same. But has redder comb and wattlers. Roo? Breed?

This white butted chick has me thinking maybe a sex link roo???

    Thanks for any input.

Quote:Pic #2 looks rooish to me. Especially compared to Pic #3.

Looks like 2 pullets and 1 roo. Not sure on the breeds though.[IMG]
