it could still be a silkie cross. first generation silkie crosses will not have silkie feathers. they will not look like silkies. i would say it DOES look like a silkie cross. do a search on them, youll see they have regular feathers and sully tufts alot of times. (but depending on what it is crossed with it can look like ANYTHING)
I am thinking a Sultan cross. They have crests, feathered shanks/toes, and five toes. I see no sign of dark skin on that big, which makes me think it isn't a Silkie cross. As for gender I am thinking rooster. I have noticed that the buff males tend to get a really shinny and brighter yellow at their neck. In the picture your chick appears to be getting that.
