Hatcheries are notorious for mis-labeling their Easter Eggers and calling them Ameraucanas, Americanas, or Araucanas. I am seeing more and more hatcheries which finally are becoming accountable for their labeling with these birds.
Ameraucana: must lay blue eggs, must have pea comb, beard and muff, must breed true for color, has slate legs, with only certain colors accepted into SOP.
Americana: Some one flunked spelling 101. No such thing.
Araucana: Pea comb, must lay a blue egg, ear tufts, rumpless, willow legs, except for white feathered has white legs, and black feathered has black legs, only specific colors accepted into SOP
EE: Hopefully carries at least one copy of the blue egg gene, therefore may lay blue, or green/aqua/olive colored egg, or perhaps pinkish, or brown egg. Should have pea comb, though not always. Should have dark colored legs, may or may not have beard and muffs. Feather coloring can be widely varied. EE are the mutts of the BLUE EGG layer world.
