It is so much fun! Our first chickens were already laying. We have been on egg watch with our pullets for a couple of weeks now. We have 3 Ameraucanas that hatched February 3, a Buff Orpington that hatched a week later, and a Cochin that is a week after the Orp. Everyday I cross my fingers and hope! I am going to get lucky any day now!
I have heard that the heat can actually slow the laying process for young pullets. It had been really hot here (>95) but with all our rain lately, the weather temp has been lower. If they don't lay soon I think I might just bust with all the excitement!
