I could tell she was not a pure breed. I was hoping that amongst the 1000's of people on this site that someone could give me a good idea of what he two parents were.

that is a silver laced wyandotte with bad lacing. but hey, i like ones like that though!

ya eggs may be light brown, whitish with wyandottes, all my wyandottes lay light brown eggs, one lays almost white eggs! Very pretty Hen!

I like the idea that was given that she might be a leghorn cross, that would explain the white eggs while still maintaining the SLW body. She is also the loaner in my flock. When I go out to feed treats, they all come running and gather around me, all except Sally, she sits out in the field by herself. The only way I can pick her up, even though she is laying, is to wait for nightfall and pick her up from the perch. I do that every now and then in hopes that one day she will understand I am her friend. For now I will have to be content with watching her from afar and gathering her white eggs.

Shes not a Wyandotte/ Barred Rock Cross.
Silver Laced Wyandotte rooster over a Barred Rock hen - All F1 offspring are Sexed Linked (males barred hens black with some silver in the breast)
Barred rooster over a Silver Laced Wyandotte hen All F1 offspring will be barred.

The plot thickens!! I have gotten 4 eggs in as many days that are white. Today, Sally, the hen in question laid her egg late in the day. I had already gathered the other eggs. I already had a white egg. She laid an egg and it was brown. Unless she is laying two a day, one white and the other brown, she is not the imposter. All of the other girls appear to be pure breed hens. It is getting very interesting trying to find out which girl is laying the white eggs and why? Again, the eggs in question are Ultra Bleach White eggs, not a hint of color or tinting at all.

I heard of a BYCer who had a Barred Rock from McMurray that laid green eggs. I also have a friend with a Black Australorp from McMurray that lays green eggs. But I have bought a lot of birds from McMurray and they all laid eggs true to breed...

One interesting note I can share: The white egg gene is recessive. In order for a bird to lay white eggs she needs to have TWO copies of the white egg gene. So it is possible, especially in hatchery stock, that she (whichever hen it is) has some White Leghorn way back on both sides of her pedigree that was added to increase egg production.

My best guess is that you either have a hen that lays an odd colored egg (white), or one of your Buff Orpingtons is really a Buff Minorca, or one of your Black Australorps is really a Black Minorca, or one of your Rhode Island Reds is really a Red Leghorn. Do all of your birds have red earlobes?

My wife and I just went to the coop and woke everyone up. We inspected each hen. All of them have RED ear lobes.
