What am I????

Better you than some other out of stater that wants to come in and subdivide the S#$% out of all the farm land. If I had the choice I would go with any chicken maniac on this forum, rather than seeing good dirt going to waste by door to door housing.

I hear you there lady! Much of TN has gone that route since I moved here 20 years ago. DH and I are renting our small slice if country heaven because prices for land have sky rocketed and forget property that is near water.

Dawn419,
We got pheasants a week ago and I would never do it again! We have lost 3 to canibalism and suffocation and we have 3 in isolation for sore butts due to pecking and my hubby found another one this morning when he checked them. Even though we debeaked lastnight. i was the one doing it and I didnt want to hurt the growth in their beak. Maybe I didnt take enough. All I know is that they are a pain in the a**! They are very hard to raise and we have them in a shed with 3 times the space that they are "supposed" to need. I am at a loss on what else to do. So when I read that your hubby suggested pheasants, like mine did, I had to tell you about this. Hopefully you can talk him into something else.

Hi Kristyne,

Yikes!!! What a mess. DH used to raise them when he still lived in VA (before we ever met) but can't remember if he raised them from day olds or not, will ask him when he gets home tonight and get back to you when we get home from TSC (gotta go special order a Chick-N-Barn and Yard but thats a whole 'nother post

Yeah it is a huge mess! I am starting to hate the little buggers. And I LOVE animals! They have been nothing but problems from the word go! Hopefull you can avoid them.

Ps I am stuck with 27 of the buggers and 3 of them are in my house! Did I mention that they stink more than the 14 chicks that I have in my house. YUK!

Dawn419,
Does your hubby have any advice for what to do with pheasants that are a week old and already starting with canibalism. You can e-mail me if you want to. I am willing to try anything.
Thanks
Kristyne
