What and whaaat....

Also, just wanted to give a heads-up about those silkies. A friend of mine bought silkies from tractor supply thinking they were bantam and they were not bantam! Full sized silkies! She gave my family a couple of them and our hen is the same size as our regular hens! She lays jumbo eggs too! We love her though!

Not sure if your tractor supply sells Giant silkies but I just wanted to give you a fair warning.

Enjoy your chicks! :)

Ameraucanas are a recognized breed, lay blue eggs, have slate colored legs, pea comb, come in specific feather colors (i.e. black, blue, etc.), and have muffs/beards. Easter Eggers are any bird that has a parent with a blue colored egg trait (Ameraucana or Araucana). They may have beards/muffs or may not, they can have a pea comb or may not, come in a variety of feather colors, can lay blue, green, or brown eggs, and legs can come in a variety of colors. In other words, EEs are a mix breed. Unfortunately, most places are confusing with names and so Ameraucanas, Araucanas, and Easter Eggers get mixed up often. The spelling, price, and look of the bird are some details that are key to determine the difference between them.

That is what I am going for as well, to have a variety of egg colors and also to have as many different breeds that my available space allows for. I have an EE myself that lays green eggs and I love her. Mix breed or no, they're all wonderful birds.
Good luck and have fun with your flock. :)

That's just it our TS never has Silkies! If looked for them for sometime and have wanted them...I've looked really close they really do look like pure Silkies, the legs are feathered and the right color. I just wonder how to tell if they aren't pure Silkies.

Thanks!

Yes I do love them all, I just don't like being told I'm buying one thing and end up with something else. I do consider this one a blessing because of the Silkies and even the EE because they lay blue/green eggs!

Thanks and good luck to you too! Feel free to share pics of your rainbow eggs once you get them.

I have a follow up question regarding my EE, he is becoming a beautiful Rooster! However, he doesn't have any spurs? Do some breed not have spurs? I thought all roosters had them...
