Okay, some of our chickens free range and they lay their eggs in an old doghouse in which we removed the front and we store our straw & other chicken items in there and they also have been laying them in my sons playhouse which is located by our pens. Just recently we have found all the eggs eaten. Well tonight when the hubby went to go lock up an animal with a white face jumped out of the playhouse with its teeth showing and acted like it was gonna go after him. We live in an area in which this summer we have seen a baby gray fox, brown fox and groundhogs these are the only animals we have actually seen besides the hawks. Any ideas on what eats eggs and has a white face would be helpful!! Thanks,
Chrissie

That is what I was thinking, but I have yet to actually see one around here, ever. Would a possum go after my chickens if there were no eggs to eat?

Thanks guys! I will keep my eyes peeled now and we will go down together to see if we can find it. It has been around for a little while now.
Imp...the hubby says that it kind of looked like that, but it didnt have big ears?? He also said he didnt hear a hiss.

Come to think of it I don't remember big ears on the ones around here. And I never heard one of mine hiss. I kinda liked them. They would come up on the deck and lick the catfood bowls spotless. Never bothered the chickens. Haven't seen one in a couple years. Going to look for another pix.

Here's another possum picture - ears really aren't that big. And yes, if they can get to your chickens and are hungry they can kill them. It may or may not hiss, depending on how cornered and defensive it gets.
