Oh yes. I remember one time I was walking Dan and Mary and a they started freaking out. I was what in the world tall alway walk great what's up.. I I decided that something somewhere near us was scaring them. I looked up and I'd say a baseball feilds away from us was a full grown black bear. It stood up on his hind legs to get a better look at us.... I froze.. We were on the top of the hill so I got down on my hands and knees and crowed backwards so u was on the other side and the bear couldn't see us then we booked it home as fast as we could go. Back home I locked up the goats ran to the house to get my dads gun and called my parents. My mom didn't believe me but my dad did. He said he saw a bear in the same area when he was my age. See I live in the city we are grandfather clauses in so we can have livestock on what's left of our family land. When I say city I mean there's never sightings of bears anywhere near us and if you told somebody the yes call u a lier... But 2 weeks later they shot the bear in the next county over. The bear never did bother my goats or other animals...

Cool story! My daughter was once out riding her mare in a provincial park near our farm and she saw a bear cross over the trail about 100 yards in front of her. The mare didn't pay any attention, must have thought it was a large hairy dog, but when she got up to that place the bear had crossed she freaked. Couldn't see the bear anywhere, but must have smelt it, and she would not cross that smell. Daughter had to turn around and come home!

Oh yea, I'm sure she smelled it. I'm glad ur daughter didn't get thrown!

Most of the tanks are species only, but we have a few odds and ends in some of the tanks to decrease conspecific aggression and some to just add flare.  lol!

Oh wow that would scare me SO bad! Good thing it never bothered your animals! Very cool story though, I only ever see coyotes and big birds but I have heard stories of black bears around here, though I've never seen one.

It was quit scary. I do hate that it got shot. There was no reports of the bear attacking, hurting or stalking and animals or people. I think it was a young bear. Prob a make trying to find his own territory. I wish they could have tranked it and took somewhere to be released. That part bothered me...

True. We are more and more encroaching on their territory, but we act like its ours from the beginning and fight them for it. And we usually win.

Yeah bears are one of my favorite animals! I think they're so cute.... from a distance. Up close never experienced and I don't think I want to. But if didn't cause any harm, killing it seems really pointless. Im not saying it was never going to cause harm, its just moving it somewhere else would make more sense, your right. Oh well, the past is sadly in the past, what can you do?
