What are Packing Peanuts?

Ive heard that hatchery's sometimes send "Packing Peanuts" in addition to your order of chicks....

So what are Packing Peanuts? I was thinking (If my mom let me!

) Or maybe ordering a few chicks from Ideal (Since its in Texas) and wondered what Packing Peanuts are.... Can anyone brief me on this?

Extra Males for warmth. Since you are in TX and we are almost at the 100 degree mark, you most likely won't get any. But you never know!
