What are quality feeds?

Yes, Blue Seal rocks! I love that feed, it's always fresh, consistent high quality and it smells so good when you crack open that bag! The birds love it and they're poop does not stink, you definitely do not get a lot of output for their input! lol *wink* I know it's available pretty much all over the country, in some parts of the country it is called Kent. Here's the link to the site:

For those of you wanting to go organic, they've got a wonderful organic line also. It is roughly 25.00 per 50 lbs, again depending on your location. Hope this helps someone!

Wow Blue Seal sounds like a wonderful feed...sadly there are no dealers within 200 miles of me

I love that they add probiotics to their feed. Brilliant idea!

That's awful! I'm sorry you can't find it closer to you-I should renege my earlier statement that "it's pretty much available all over the country"!

Those of you that can't find Blue Seal should be able to find Kent (they are located more in the mid and western states)-they're affiliated and have basically the same great products. I've even heard a couple of times that Kent is Blue Seal and vice versa. Definitely worth a phone call or an email to find out!

Thanks for this! We are looking for a different feed, so now I have some names to mention when I go to the grain co-op. I want to at least have an idea of what I'm talking about when I go in. Apparently I don't fit the stero-typical chicken lady in these parts and sometimes get some very odd looks lol!

Me too!!!!

Apparently we aren't supposed to ask questions...we are supposed to blindly accept whatever ill-conceived product they offer

**I promise I will not restart my rant about the product my local co-op offers as "starter"...I will just say

This is GREAT info! I also can't get Blue Seal anywhere around here but I just found a place that is supposed to have Kent. Hopefully they keep the poultry products in stock!

I started out using the local MG feed and wasn't happy with it and found Purina better, but had to look to find Purina. I just got 50lbs purina but can start mixing Kent in with it.

I spoke to a Purina salesman not too long ago and he told me that the Purina in the grocery store for pets and Purina MILLS that makes the Sunfresh are different entities. Purina Mills makes all kinds of animal feed, they even have Llama food. They do make a premium dog food (Exclusive) and cat food (Red Flannel). You have to get them at feed stores.
