What are quality feeds?

I've been feeding Purina - just mixing my first bag of Layena in with the Start and Grow and I like it just fine. My birds free range alot in woods and grass so they get a good variety.
If I were to switch to Blue Seal, what would I buy Layer or Egg Maker? ..for a small flock of 8 chickens.

My vet even recommended not to use TSC foods if I could possibly help it. He mentioned that my dog looked a little "off" and asked what she was eating. She had been on ProPlan Senior but TSC stopped carrying it, so I switched her to Diamond Senior. He said that TSC is carrying less quality feeds that they were even just a few years back and to either make my own chicken and dog feed or get a recognized brand like Eukanuba or Purina.

Diamond makes a really great feed better than Pro Plan called Diamond Naturals. It is there top line and TSC does carry it but you can find it cheaper at another feed store. I use to feed Pro Plan to my dogs when i was breeding. Now I only feed Diamond to my dog(not a breeder but a runner) she is our farm dog. I was looking for a non allergy feed for her when she was a puppy and acame across Diamond Natural. It is just what I wanted and half the price of Nurto. Which sold me right off. She loved the lamb and Rice. I have now moved her to high energy for she needed the extra fat. The Natural formula is just a bit too lean for her and running 45 acres.

Ok enough about dog food It is a major study of mine since I was breeding, training and grooming professionally. For those that want to talk dog food PM so we keep thread on topic.
