What are Rheas like compared to Emus?

I'm wondering what Rheas are like compared to Emus as far as personality?
Can they be friendly like Emus if raised from an early age? Do they like water like Emus?

I read that Rheas are pretty unpleasant. I haven't ever met one, though.

I think they are a sweeter, smaller version of an emu. I prefer them.

We have raised ostrich, emus and rheas, and I can tell you the rhea males are MEAN!!!! The way my husband (brave soul) would choose one to slaughter (they taste wonderful), would be to go out in their pasture (axe in hand) and catch the neck of the first maniac bird that would come racing towards his face with his beak opened up all the way! Then he would sling him to the ground and chop his head off right there. And just like any bird with their head chopped off, the body would keep flopping around for a bit

Males can be a bit mean, but hens are usually pretty mellow and calm. At the facility i worked at, we had an older pair and they were friendly. The male had arthritis, and the hen has cataracts

The male is now dead, and the hen shares her enclosure with an Egyptian goose. Thay are now best friends
