What are some things to have on hand?

What are some things in the case of an emergency that I should keep on hand and how do I use it?

I know I've read something about blu-kote or something...what all is it used for?

What are some other things to keep on hand in the event of a sick or injured chicken?

Blue-Cote:
For injuries inflicted within the flock. The color will deter continued pecking on the affected bird. Also will help in healing.

To keep disease/sickness to a minimum our coops are as close to the outside environment as possible. The only reason that the flock should be in the coop is for shelter from inclement weather, predators, roosting. Shelter for feed, water, egg laying when needed. This helps keep your costs per bird managable.
