What are symptoms of an eggbound Goose?

I am not sure what is going on with my one geese. She has been laying eggs about every other day for a few weeks. She has not layed one for a couple days and she is acting weird.

When I came home today, all 5 african geese were in the front as usual, honking. But Lucy didn't honk. She didn't even move. She was standing on one foot and had her beak tucked under her wing.

While all the other ones honked and moved around she did not.

She did eventually unfold and wander around eating grass with the others, but I am really concerned.

She has been wandering away from the other geese lately too, and walking slowly and it looks like her belly is hanging a bit lower than usual.

I haven't wanted to bother her and I know that if I have to pick her up she is going to be very upset. I don't want to make matters worse.

I didn't know what the symptoms of a goose being eggbound was.

Does anyone have any help or suggestions. Experience with this?

I hope someone here knows.

Perhaps the low hanging belly is just because she's laying. I would assume that she has reached the end of laying until about Feb.

I do have one goose who stands on one leg and tucks the beak in her wing and she does it all the time. Panini is only 3 months though and not laying so I know she isn't egg bound.

I just had to reply because I live in Idaho also.

I am sorry about your goose, I am not any help. I have a goose that is acting funny also but it is because she was attacked by a predator three weeks ago. The dog scared it off before it did any real damage but she has been acting slow, quiet and sleeping alot. It is now mandatory that they get locked up at night. I hope your goose gets better soon!

Thank you for your help. I think I am going to try and catch her and palpatate to see if it feels like an egg.
She seems to be a little better, but she seems to go in spurts this last week. And still no egg.

Hi, well she seems to be fine. It took about another 5 days for her to stop acting strange and now she is almost back to normal. She isn't laying anymore though.

I thought she might be egg bound but when I picked her up and felt, I didn't notice anything that was out of place or odd.

I just don't know what was going on. On the good side though, one of the eggs she laid is fertile and developing and one other is still a little early to tell.
