What are the best feeders that you use? PLEASE post pics!!!!

I tried the PVC and the bucket/pot tray homemade versions and found that neither one lets laying mash come down smoothly...too much humidity in the air maybe that causes caking. I tried mixing bigger grains that would be heavy enough to move the feed and nothing really worked well until....

I brought out my old galvanized trough-style feeder..you know the kind? It stands up on metal legs that can be folded away? Well, I folded the legs flat, wrapped the trough with welded wire that is just big enough to let a chicken head in but does not allow scratching or flipping of food. Best idea I've had yet! If I fill it up it can feed 33 chickens for 3-4 days at a time, there has been no wasted food and it stays clean. Love, love, love it!

CJ that is REALLY neat!

I don't have one of those super-mini kegs like that but I have one that's maybe a quarter keg that someone gave me that I've been saving till I thought of some clever use for it. Maybe I can think of some way to make a feeder out of that one.

That sounds like a really good idea. We have a feeder almost made that is like Rob's--Niftychicken--except it is shorter and wider. I am going to make a BYC page of it tomorrow.
