what are the biggest factors to make hens lay eggs?

My hens were born first of June, also. I've had our Buff Orp laying for a good month, the Barred Rock about three weeks, and the Austrolorpe & Wyandotte just barely began laying.

The girls seem right on schedule, especially with the shorter days.

sorry for delay in responding, been very busy.
i have 2 barred rock, 2 RIR and 1 NH red.

Using city water.
and I got my 2nd egg this AM

thanks for all the input i need to work on some things.

As far as the light goes it would seem that the sun would provide enuff. It seems that adding more light would be unnatural?

Majority of mine are 6 months old and they are showing no signs at laying either! :( idk if maybe I have too many n my coop or what? It's so irritating. I still love them though. We had a flock outbreak of coccidia when they were all just a few weeks old like 3 weeks. Could this have affected them? That was my first experience with chickens not laying. And we've had chickens for a good long while now but I've never seen them take so long. :( any suggestions?

My girls have a coop with a connected fenced in side yard, they go in and out as much as they want to, they are about 6 months old... they are not laying yet will they lay before winter? and why is lighting so important? (I'm new to this in case you couldnt tell)

My 3 chickens are around 3 years old (ex battery hens) but they haven't laid more than 5 eggs between the 3 of them in 4 months. It is just starting autumn here and still very warm. Could it be that there very large cage (ex vegetable garden) is in the shade of a large wind break and gets very little direct sunlight. They have plenty of fresh water, are feed layer pellets plus 80% of kitchen refuse (except things like onion, potato peels and citrus peels). I'd love any advice!

4 RIRs and 2BOs for me. They're about 19 weeks old. I have plucked 3 total eggs in the last 3 weeks.

I don't know which ones are producing the eggs, but should I be concerned, or is this normal production for these breeds and their age?
