What are the chances of the chicks still hatching?

My son has a black cochin bantam that has been setting for 22 days and still has no chicks. He candled them on day 20 (also other days) and removed the ones that were not good. He started out with 10 eggs under her, but then removed 6 because they did not have veins. The other 4 did have chicks in them. The temperature has been cold off and on. One of those four (when she was setting on 10) was cold one time that he candled, so it may not finish developing because it got too cold.

How long should we wait before we crack them open and check them? I have read where we should wait until day 25, and in one thread someone said that they wait until day 26 .

yes wait till day 25 and if nothing by then crack and look

my hen just had a nest full of eggs hatch today that she abandoned for two days and they all hatched today on day 23
