What are the chicken laws for Jesup,GA (Georgia)?

1) How many roosters allowed?
2) How many Hens allowed?
3) What is the distance from your house and your neighbour house must be?
4) How big can your coop be in your front yard?

1 and 2) Jesup's animal ordinance doesn't seem to be specific on numbers of chickens. I guess you'd have to contact the board of commissioners about numbers. They're the people that handles chicken permits.

There is a bit about noise control where you can't let them "make any vocalizations or audible noises which are plainly audible to a person of ordinary hearing not located on the same property as the animal or animals making such vocalizations for more than 15 minutes without interruption, or for more than 30 minutes if the vocalization is intermittent."

3 and 4) Chickens are lumped into "livestock" along with hoofstock so you do need to keep your birds at least 500ft of other people's houses. How well do rooster noises carry over 500ft?

Last line of section 14-5(a):

No such permit shall be granted where the livestock is to be maintained within a distance of 500 feet from the residence of any person or the premises of any entity other than the applicant.

Ridiculousness. You should see if they would modify that for tiny livestock.

I only have 4 chickens and they are about 40 ft from my neighbors .. Do I have anything to worry about? No one ever complains.
