I always have hard times with names myself. I want names to come natural and if they don't then a nickname can stick. My own dog comes to "pup" until we decided on a name that fit him(Radek fit the bill). I like to pick rare and unusual names or names of characters in my favorite tv shows. Radek is a name of a tv show character and unheard of here in the US but in the Czech Republic it's as common as the name John. Tibanks I love all those names.
1 of our Austrolorps is named General Tso(hubs thought it was a male and so he named it something tasty because we weren't going to keep any males). I just call her General because she's also the one in charge and cares for all the others. Another Austrolorp is just referred to as "duck's girlfriend" because they're always seen together but I call her Helen. The duck's full name is Quacker Jack...Jack for short. Hubs' maternal grandparents were Jack and Helen. We have a white sexlink that was also thought to be a male so hubs named her Foghorn. The other Amberlinks are named "crazy chicken", "Big Red", and "Ringneck".

In order from my signature are Josephine (Josie), Gertrude (Gertie), Beyonce (Bee) and Raven. We prefer vintage names, but don't always go with that. Phyllis (a barred rock) was my favorite chicken name ever. We recycle the names that we really like, so we'll probably use it again. One of our new peeps (also a BR) is extra friendly, so she may become our new Phyllis.
