What are the odds

[OMG]

I didn't even know this type of site existed but I had to just jump on the computer to find out what the odds are or if this is a common thing, although I haven't seen this before. My partner, son and I were making an egg and bacon pie for dinner tonight and on one layer we opened 6 out of 6 eggs that had double yolks and then on the top layer we opened another 6 eggs all with double yolks!!!!!

We wish we took a photo of this but it's now in the oven, and smells pretty good.

Has anyone else had such a thing, that got to be a trillion to one or do they breed chickens for this?

Are your chickens new to laying? I had a bunch of double yolkers in their first eggs.

I had a hen who layed double yolkers pretty regularly. The kids thought it was very cool!

I had this happen yesterday too. Out of my first 6 eggs from one hen 4 of them were doubles!

The replies to my thread said it's more common when they first start.

When my hen's first started laying 9 out of every 10 eggs was a double yolker. The kids thought it was great! But now in their second season I haven't had any at all. BUMMER! They are fun to get though!!!
