So we recently had 23 quail hatch. They are just over 2 weeks old now. And wouldn't you know it, MOST of them are hens.. What are the odds of that. We have had a pretty equal hatch rate of males to females except for this set. We have at least 18 females that we can tell. They are the brown coturnix so pretty easy to tell.. The remaining are Tibetan (3 for sure are), or are darker black (maybe tuxedo??) so we are not sure of their sex yet. Could not believe it when the browns started getting their feathers and are all female!! The good thing is, our other group that are almost 8 weeks old now, we have equal males to female so now we can set aside some of the males for the hens in this group (once they are old enough).. Just thought it was curious we ended up with so many hens this group.
Anyone have a clue why? Or just luck of the draw
