I hatched some chicks a few days ago, my lavender orpington rooster was in with one lavender orpington hen, two buff orpington hens, and six ISA brown hens. Out of 24 eggs I got 12 to hatch with three dying and one having to be put down..... Anyways what could the mother of these chicks be? And any guesses on the genders?

The chick that is away from the others in the first photo is the one that had to be put down.... when it hatched it had a huge knot or swelling on its neck and couldn't move and therefore couldn't eat or drink. We tried to save it by giving vitamins mixed in water given by a small syringe but it just didn't thrive well.

The paler ones are probably buff crosses. The darker ones are probably ISA crosses (the ones that didn't inherit Dominant white). Lavender*Lavender should get Lavender chicks. I see no lavender chicks, so I'm guessing she didn't reproduce.

Your ISA crosses should, if I'm right, look much like black sexlinks; ie, red throats and shoulders, especially in the males. Your buffxblack (technically buffxlavender, but lav's recessive, so it's a moot point) crosses are going to be a little more interesting. I advise a google search since I currently cannot load pictures.
