What are the signs

What are the signs that my chickens are ready to lay eggs? They should be almost old enough. Anything i can do to speed the process?

You cannot speed the process. Your hens face, comb and wattles will become bright red. Her comb and wattles may increase in size. She may squat when you pet her back. Before my Sally laid her first egg, the day before she wasn't acting quite right. She was kind of slow and inactive and had me worried. The next day, she laid my first egg ever! Some birds lay at 20 weeks and others at almost a year old.

oh my goodness the wait is dreadful. To make it worse, I lost count at hold mine are.
