This is a new sound (as of today) my 18 week old pullet is making. Stress? Illness? Puberty?!

First, we need to figure out what you're dealing with. If it's bacterial it can be treated with antibiotics, if it's viral there might not be much you can do

Is there any white gunk in her beak or throat? Does she have any discharge around her eyes or nostrils? I would also get in touch with your state's poultry extension to see if they offer any kind of testing

Update: I’ve heard her sneeze a couple more times now and the “purring” sound is intermittent still.

I can’t see the picture or video. Purring or crackles when breathing could be rales, a sound of moisture in the airway. It could be mucus, and when she shakes her head or coughs, she make be clearing it. Watch for bubbles in either eye, swelling of eyelids, gasping, or thick nasal drainage. If you see those, you may need to get some antibiotics such as Tylosin powder for the water.

If she's through with the Corid treatment, give her a dose of a poultry multivitamin. Corid stops coccidiosis by starving it of the Vitamin B it needs to survive. The downside is that chickens need B, too. Replacing the missing vitamins won't treat that nasty cough, but it should help her fight whatever is causing it.

She is eating and drinking and correcting her new flock mate like normal. She does sort of sound like she’s purring all the time. She’s only made the sound a few times- it seems fairly rare and all that just began today.

Her crop looks a bit puffy. What does it feel like? I'd check her crop first thing in the morning before she eats/drinks to see if it's emptying.

The Second upclose video = her eye is slightly red with a sunken appearance and slight swelling of the sinus. Have you added wood chips/new bedding, etc. to the run? Your runs are all attached, so birds are all next to each other. If she has something, all are likely exposed anyway.

I'd consider starting her on Tylosin to see if that helps. Flush her eye(s) a couple of times a day and put some Terramycin eye ointment into her eyes.

Where did the new flock mate come from? Is the bird new to you or just from another pen/run/coop from your own flocks?

I'd still check her crop, if it's not emptying, access it by the article below.

This morning her eye has some discharge coming from it. She is still eating and drinking well. A woman in my area is going to provide me with a few doses of some vita king respiratory illness antibiotics some time today.

I’ve also ordered tiagard. She is separated from the flock right now, and nobody else seems to have symptoms yet. Should I give the whole flock the tiagard as well?

I didn’t see this about checking her crop until she was already up and eating, but I will check it tomorrow morning!

Tiagard/Denagard tastes really bad. Many use Tylosin since it is easier for them to drink. Here is where to find it:

Tylosin dosage is 1 tsp per gallon of water. Change it every other day.

Update: I think my girl’s trouble was environmental. She began rapidly improving once moved from the coop to the garage. I cleaned the coop and replaced all bedding and put up a layer of vinyl to block gaps that could allow rain water in.

Just to be safe I still treated her with antibiotics but they didn’t seem to change much beyond the improvement she’d already been making.

None of my other chickens ever got any symptoms, thank goodness!
